Discussion:
Traci on Oprah

Well, I just saw the interview. It looked more like Oprah feeding her
lines than just asking questions and getting answers. I would have
rather seen her be interviewed by Lauren Hutton or Whoopie Goldberg.
They actually shut up and let the interviewe talk. They were both
really good talk shows that allowed them to open up.
I was confused at first when they said that she stared in 18 or 20
adult films. Especially when the number is more like 63.
I then decided to check the adult happy shopper. And I was correct in
my assumption. There are about 19 "different" titles that they sell.
(as far as I can tell with the alternate names and duplicates on the
dvd's)
It is clear that she said that because she know's what is comercially
available and wants every one to believe that those are the only ones
that she did. It also sounds less slutty to say you did 20 in 3 years
than sixty something. I also noticed that when Oprah was telling
about her own troubles as a youth, that you could "see" the emotion and
truth in her eyes.
That was not very evident in Traci's eyes and she looked more like a
book seller than someone being interviewed about her past.
Maybe it's the same old "act" or maybe she hasn't really come to terms
with her past. It's hard to tell. Well I hope we get some lively
discussions on this topic, since this group has been pretty dead as of
late. mes.

At times, it did seem like Oprah was dominating the interview, but I think
that's a matter of style more than anything else. From Traci's perspective, she
has to reach a totally different demographic, which explains why she chose
Oprah. The viewers obviously a little different than a Larry King or Craig
Kilborn. Traci basically achieved what she wanted, which was her story reaching
a different crowd.

Actually, that's what she's said for years - so many times that I think she's
actually convinced herself that it is the truth.

She was on some other talk show recently too, besides Oprah. I forgot
which one. Her stories on each show were almost totally different. I
think she's told so many lies she can't keep track of them anymore.
Maybe one day she'll tell the truth for once, but by then nobody will
believe her anyway.

By then, no one will care. If she had told the truth from day one, or
even started a few years ago, she would be alot further along than she
is. Playing the sympathy card isn't working to well for her and never
will. I seriously doubt she will ever get much work in Hollywood worth
anything, less and less as her name drowns out and loses whatever
sympathy factor and porn notariety it once had. She's almost ready to
start playing someones mother rather than a love interest.

We all have our own version of reality. No-one ever tells the
absolute truth at all times. I'm sure even Jimmy Carter didn't bat
100% and he probably came closer than any other president!

Like the rest of us liars, she's trying to make it through life the
best way she can, without an instruction manual. If your president
will lie to you with a straight face, if priests and ministers and
preachers all lie, why would you expect better from an ex teenage
porn star?

I still put her in my list of "Chicks with balls of steel". Good on
you, Traci. Go get 'em.

I don't tell lies that hurt an entire industry and cost many millions
of dollars to alot of people, then continue to lie about it continuing
to hurt those people over and over and over. Most people, while
telling little white lies don't tell the complete whoppers TL does. I
know I don't. I'm honest to the point of hurting myself at times.

I find it very hard to raise the tiniest bit of concern over the porn
industry. It's there, it's legal, more or less, but it will never
cure cancer or erase world hunger.

If it is so fragile that one girl can bring it down it isn't too
great, is it? After all, billions were stolen from the S&L industry,
wrecking thousands of lives and it is still in business.

I never said it brought the industry down, I merely pointed out that
while most people lie to save someones feelings (a white lie) a lie
that hurts others and continues to do so is wrong to th epoint of bing
vile at times. Contrary to your statement "everyone lies" I do not. I
may stretch the truth, tell a half truth, or say nothing and change
the subject but I never outright lie.
Gas station owners will never do a great humanitarian deed but
should they have any their profits ripped away because of a prolific
liar and then be slandered by that liar for years afterwards like the
porn industry has? Take a close look at any of her movies. In not one
of them was she under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Her eyes are
bright and full of cheer. She enjoyed her work and it shows. She loved
the money and attention and can lie about it all she wants.
I make porn. I'm not a bad person because of it and I sure don't
need someone lying about me to further their career while calling the
business I'm in, and they used to be in, dirty or undeserving of just
and decent treatment.

The so called Masked Magician explained a lot of old stage illusions
on TV. Many magicians were mad enough to mutter death threats. I just
laughed, knowing how quickly people would forget what they had seen.
One thing I am sure that happens now is that porn makers really do
check the age of performers VERY carefully. That is certainly a good
thing.

You can't tell me that no-one buys porn any more. It's probably as
close to main stream as it will ever get in the culture of the USA. I
suspect more damage was done by Linda Lovelace and her stories about
"Deep Throat" than by anything Traci has or will say.

Who takes anything anyone says on TV at face value? We all know that
the 'stars' appear on talk shows to puff their latest pieces, and
they all say nice things about each other no matter their true
feelings.

Life is hard, then you die.

They checked Traci's age pretty closely too, and all looked good. She
had a valid I.D. AND a U.S. Passport. You don't get better
credentials than that. Any actress showing me a picture ID and
passport and is willing to moan while sucking dick and getting fucked
will be on tape toot sweet. Do I need to talk to her mother first?

Porn is a multi billion dollar business so yes, people still buy it.
It doesn't negate the fact that 100 films with TL in them no longer
make money for those she hoodwinked and lied to. It also killed income
from those movies for anyone attached to them with a residual or
salary based on sales. This is rare in porn but does happen, just like
in mainstream films.

That's too kinky! You're doing mother daughter stuff? Too bad this
also affected the Vanessa Williams Penthouse issue though.

FWIW, I have always maintained that she had effectively emancipated
herself by her performances and presenting of false ID, and so these
videos should be legit., however the Federal Gauleiters insist on the
strictest interpretation of the law. Even in Canada where adults can
have sex legally with 14 year olds of either sex it's also illegal to
sell video of those under 18. But the law is an ass so often.

If they've been slandered, there's a remedy at law for that.

Legally you can't slander a non-entity like an industry, but for the
sake of arguement let's rephrase "slander" as "badmouth and berate".

Unless you ARE Oprah and bad mouth the beef industry. Apparently no
matter how many millions of pounds of toxic ground beef need to be
recalled you can't mention it.
